Support for Adobe Flash ended in December 2020, and nothing has quite fulfilled the same niche ever since. I'll be honest - if I were born a decade ago, I think I would've made plenty of terrible games with this (or at least tried to).

In the spirit of this site, I've unearthed a few favorites via the Flashpoint archives.

Mega Man vs. Ghosts 'n
Goblins

This one's pretty self-explanatory. I don't think I need to elaborate on why I like this one nor why I've suggested it here. It's a surprisingly authentic experience for a Flash game.

Joltik's Super Circuit

Did anyone else check out the Pokemon Dream World back in the early 2010s? I still have an Exeggutor I got from it forever ago sitting in a PC box somewhere. Fennel was kinda cute, too...Anyways, I'm a sucker for these sort of "path-making" action puzzle games. Try to beat my high score of 294,628!

Scrabble Blast

Damn right, it's Scrabble! Who needs video games, anyway? There was a period of time where I got my mom super addicted to this one...oops. Apparently there's a GBA game based on this, so I might have to pick it up sometime.

Shrek Shreds

Hey now. It's Shrek on a skateboard, what more do you need? This was the first game I submitted to the Flashpoint project back in 2019 which was probably my single most important contribution to humanity.

Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music

Okay, I lied, this isn't a game. While I could go off on a tangent on how ridiculous it is that certain people are so hell-bent on dividing and categorizing niche genres like this, this is a cool resource for people who are trying to get into this kind of thing. It's a fun and hilariously opinionated overview of some new music styles to check out. One of my personal favorites is L'amour Toujours by Telex, under "New Wave". Coarse language ahead, so be warned.

Wanna B Wonka? Crazy Candy Creation Game

My first exposure to Lemmings. Gotta love how Americanized these Wonka games are. But hey, credit where it's due - props to these guys for using material from the rarely-acknowledged sequel with the Vermicious Knids and all. Willy Wonka goes to purgatory in that one. Yeah, you heard me.

...y'know, did the Wonka candy brand even actually do chocolate? For being based on a story so heavily themed around chocolate, they sure didn't make it a whole bunch.

Small Worlds

An atmospheric little game that doesn't overstay its welcome. Each of the subtle "reveals" in the game's environments are intriguing and really get your imagination running. I discovered this game (and Kevin Macloed's music, by extension) through Nitrome's blog back in the day.

ROM CHECK FAIL

This might be my favorite game on the list, yet I don't remember how I stumbled across this one. I played this excessively before class in high school to the point where I had an old acquaintance randomly message me years later to ask about "that game where a bunch of games came together in one glitchy thing". Well, here it is.
